WHAT IS ESTATE FENCING?
Also known as estate railings or parkland fencing, estate fencing is traditionally seen at large country estates, where round bars or flat strips of steel are threaded through holes in vertical posts. Its longevity is witnessed by the many railings that survive at Victorian stately homes.

WILL ESTATE FENCING MATCH MY PROPERTY?
The Dorset Farm’s estate fencing is a classic and elegant addition that complements almost any property. Its mix of strength and refined style offers long-lasting security without obstructing sight lines to and from your property.
We have completed installations for many satisfied clients at:
ESTATE FENCING OR STOCK FENCING?
We separate our estate fencing into 5, 7 and 10-rail variants.
Our most popular option is 7-rail “stock fencing” which stands 1.2m high. It offers increased protection for children and large pets. It is ideal if you have, or anticipate keeping, livestock.
Built with the same heavy-duty posts and rails as our stock fencing, our 5-rail “estate fencing” offers the same high strength with fewer rails. It is ideal for decorative garden borders and driveway entrances where open lines matter more than containment.
I HAVE A DOG OR OTHER PET
As most owners will know, no fence is entirely secure. Many dogs are able to jump over a fence or burrow underneath. However, estate fencing acts as a strong physical and psychological deterrent for large dogs and mesh or wire can be added to help contain smaller pets.

HOW IS YOUR ESTATE FENCING PRICED?
Our estate, stock and deer fencing is transparently priced on a per-metre basis. Gates and posts are priced per item according to size and style.
If you require an installation service, this is included in the quoted per-metre and item costs.
If you require delivery only, this will be competitively priced based on distance to your location.
If you require removal of existing fencing as part of the works, this will be at additional cost according to length and difficulty assessed during a site visit.
ACCEPTING YOUR QUOTE
Once you have accepted your quote, we will liaise with you to determine a suitable installation or delivery date.
Installation of your new estate fencing is carried out using a purpose-built machine that rides on tracks designed to minimise impact to the ground.
The operator drives each vertical post into the ground every 1 metre, navigating changes in direction and slope with elegant curves that complement the landscape. Gate posts are secured in concrete to ensure a long, reliable life. Once the horizontal steel rails are placed and bolted together, they are welded to the posts for stability and strength.
Upon completion, any specified paint options will be applied for additional durability.
AFTERCARE
All of our fencing is made from high quality steel.
Whether you opt for a natural steel finish that attains an attractive rusty colour over time or opt for a fully galvanised and painted coating, it should last for decades and require very little maintenance other than applying paint to any newly damaged areas.
WHAT AREAS DO YOU COVER?
We deliver our products nationwide.
Whilst our primary base for installation is the south west, we have completed works as far afield as Lincolnshire, Mid-Wales and the Home Counties.
WHAT IS GALVANISING / GALVANISATION?
Rust is a natural process where iron atoms in steel bond with oxygen and water in the atmosphere, degrading the metal over time. To provide a physical barrier to rusting, our fence posts can be dipped in a coating of molten zinc which bonds chemically with the underlying steel to greatly increase its lifespan.
